Locally Developed Software Enhances Public Financial Planning in Pakistan

Earlier this month, IBI’s team for the Pakistan Capacity Development Services – Small Business (PCDS-SB) activity trained officials from the Planning and Development Department (P&DD) of Sindh Province, Pakistan on how to use new, locally developed software to automate their operations. Two software programs, designed by IBI’s all-Pakistani team and tailored for counterparts in the Sindh government, will allow for the creation of Annual Development Plans and Planning Commission Forms with enhanced efficiency and transparency.

Held in Karachi, the trainings included two cohorts of Sindh P&DD officials, from programmers to monitoring and evaluation officers.

Systems automation and capacity building are important means for improving public fiscal management and ensuring that public funds are allocated in the most effective ways. Since 2019, IBI has been collaborating with planning and development agencies in the Islamabad Capital Territory, Sindh Province, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province on such activities. IBI is proud to partner with USAID on the implementation of PCDS-SB.
